Early Childhood Education
Welcome to my academic and professional blog site for Early Childhood Education (ECE). I’m Shawna. I’m married with two children and three step-children, one of which I had parental influence with. I live, work, play, and (of course) study in Eastern Iowa and lead a very busy lifestyle. I have run a small daycare from my home for the past 5 years; I home school my own 5-year-old and had home schooled my now 15-year-old through 4th and 5th grades. I also help my husband with his music therapy business, and work as an in-home caregiver for the sick and elderly overnights on the weekends, as well as pursuing my Master’s in ECE.
I have been a Sunday school teacher’s assistant for preschool through 4th graders , as well as a Lead Sunday school teacher for many years. Choosing to study early childhood education was not a stretch for me. Unbeknownst to me, caring for and educating children has been a constant my entire adult life…a natural talent and gift. This blog marks my growth and professional understanding of topics covered in the Master’s degree program as well as a section dedicated to the journey of homeschooling of my kindergartner.
